WORK-LEISURE II

From the whimsical to the functional, Work-Leisure is a national survey of objects made by Britain's manufacturing workforce after hours and between tasks on the production line. Led by Bahbak Hashemi-Nezhad and co-curated with Matthew Harle, the project visited hundreds of businesses, documenting items made using workplace skills and materials — from furniture welded by steelworkers to whimsical pieces cast by plasterers.

Beginning in 2021 in Park Royal, West London, the project has since expanded to Sheffield, before moving to other industrial landscapes, documenting alternative uses of materials, skills, and imagination within the workplace.

Exhibited at Yorkshire Art Space, Sheffield, with a book published by The Everyday Press.
