SWEET TERRAIN

Sweet Terrain is a public artwork by designers Bahbak Hashemi-Nezhad & Rafael El Baz, transforming 12 tons of clay waste from HS2’s Old Oak Common site into 300m² of handcrafted tiles for the new station.

Co-created with a community of local bakers and produced by Craven Dunnill Jackfield – established in 1872 and known for their traditional decorative ceramic tiles – Sweet Terrain embeds culture into infrastructure by celebrating migrant knowledge and reimagining sustainability through industrial heritage.
