Co-hostings is a collaborative project developed with over 40 refugees and asylum seekers at City of Sanctuary Sheffield. Emerging from an open brief exploring how a cultural organisation recentres from London to Sheffield, the project was initiated in 2020 alongside Arts Catalyst.

Through weekly English classes and ongoing conversations, the project explored questions of belonging, safety, rootedness, the city and the role of language and translation in everyday life. Co-Hostings includes the publication Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover, created with Experts by Experience and illustrated by Danielle Rhoda, functioning as both an English language resource tool and a collective reflection on participants’ aspirations and experiences.
